Combining thearchitecture of the 1950s with the comfort, spaciousness and luminosity ofcontemporary spaces, this three-storey house in Restelo neighbourhood, Lisbon, hasundergone a profound transformation. Space, light, functionality, and well-being are the appropriate keywords to describe it.

The ambitiousproject renewed a 70-year-old villa, transforming it into a luxurious houselocated in a privileged area of the city with spectacular views over the Tagusriver.

From anarchitectural perspective, a total renovation of its exterior has been undertaken,turning the house remarkably fluid, lively, and harmonious, allowing acontinuous space reading.

Starting fromsimplifying the façades openings and the transformation of the sill windowsinto French windows, the house exterior improvements have gone much further andare presented, now, in a visually consistent and restful language.

There were appliedhandmade three-dimensional green tiles to cover the swimming pool, barbecue,garage/laundry and toilet which, by concealing those volumes, provide abalanced relationship with the natural green environment.

In the same way, theexisting extension of the house at the lower level was covered in the samematerial, thus unifying its several parts around a common motif.

The exterior of thehouse has now several living areas, all thought according with the features ofthe space with the swimming pool placed in the lower and more sheltered area,near the rear limit, towards south, thus benefiting from a longer sunlight.

On the lower floorthere are the master-suite and a multipurpose room both with direct access tothe garden and swimming pool.

而在套房上方，建筑的中层，设计师将此处原有的露台进行修缮和改良，创造了一个不仅仅只是社交活动区自然延伸出来的起居区——它填满了曾经被浪费的空间空白，并提供给人们能够俯瞰塔霍河的壮丽景色。

Above the suite, onthe middle floor, the pre-existing terrace has been improved, creating a livingarea that is no more than a natural extension of the social zone, filling upall that space and offering outstanding views over the Tagus river.

通过激光切割的金属板加工，设计师对前门和边界墙进行了重新设计，并使用了相同的3D瓷砖图案，来增强他们想要整座建筑所呈现的统一美学特征；栏杆也被相同样式的激光切割金属板代替。另一方面，车库的天花板被改造成一个巨大的灯箱。而这一美学元素的再次应用，从视觉方面来讲，为住户于此处进行汽车停放时，创造了极大的便利。

The front gate andboundary wall, in laser cut metal sheet work, were also redesigned and the same3D tile pattern was applied to reinforce such desired unifying character. The balustradeswere also replaced by laser cut metal sheet of the same pattern. On the other hand,the ceiling of the garage is now a huge light box, a relevant factor whichvisually benefits the cars parked there.

The house had toomany rooms, so the project's approach was mainly to create a natural andversatile social area, by placing wide sliding doors between circulation zones,the living room and dining room in order to interconnect such areas.

While the socialspaces were placed on the middle floor, the private areas were distributedbetween the lower and upper floors.

On this lower level,an ensuite for the housekeeper with an independent access was also designed.

室内楼梯的面饰涂料再次突显了房屋的谐调个性——尽管这次的色调选用纯白色，但却出现了和外部立面所使用的，全然相同的三维手工瓷砖进行呼应。

The harmonicpersonality of the house is once again highlighted in the interior staircasecoating, where the same three-dimensional handmade tile used outside emergesonce more although this time in white colour.
